Agora for climate, equality and freedom of speech – summary of activities in the interactive "ESG Report" for 2021.

Agora for climate, equality and freedom of speech – summary of activities in the interactive

Carbon footprint and climate action, gender equality, fight against discrimination and defending freedom of speech these are the main topics of the report describing key ESG activities undertaken by Agora Group and Agora S.A. in 2021. The report is now available in an interactive form at www.raportESG.agora.pl/en  in Polish and English language versions.

The last 2 years have been a time of great uncertainty both in the lives of each of us and the companies for which we work. Therefore, now - more than ever the concept of corporate social responsibility is taking on a new dimension  – emphasizes Bartosz Hojka, President of the Management Board of Agora, in the letter opening the report– In 2021, we made efforts to ensure that the idea of sustainable development had an impact on every area of Agora's operations. We listened to the voices of our employees and external stakeholders and together, on the basis of a materiality study, we defined priority ESG issues, which we be will included in our activities in the coming years.

The Agora Group's "ESG Report" for 2021 presents the results of intensive activities in the areas related to the natural environment, social impact and protection of human rights, as well as responsible management and business ethics, based on the assumptions of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.

The basis for the preparation of the report was the definition of priority ESG issues on the basis of Material ESG issues. These include climate change and environmental impact, presented in the section Natural environment (E). To tackle this issue and start the process of neutralizing the impact on the climate, Agora for the first time calculated the carbon footprint (scope 1 and 2, according to the GHG Protocol methodology), conducting an analysis of opportunities, threats and climate risks. The company defined the basic areas of direct impact on the natural environment, as well as described the current and planned activities in the pursuit of climate neutrality. In addition, information on the activities of the Agora Group, listed in the so-called of EU Taxonomy, which is the next step on the way to more effective environmentally sustainable business decision-making.

One of the key elements contributing to the development of Agora are social activities described in the chapter Society and Human Rights (S). In 2021, the brands and media of the Agora Group undertook numerous aid and information initiatives related to the humanitarian crisis, gender equality, actions to reduce social inequalities, as well as the protection of democratic values and freedom of speech in Poland. An example is, among others the #Mediabezwyboru campaign, in which, in February 2021, Agora's editorial offices, along with the representatives of other free media in Poland, stopped operating for 24 hours to show what a world without independent journalism can look like.

The Ethical Business (G) section contains information on Agora's standards of operation in external relations and a description of the company's management system.

In the "Workplace" chapter, the GCR (Glass Ceiling Ratio) was presented for the first time, showing equal opportunities for promotion of each gender, calculated separately for each level of the organizational hierarchy. It indicates that the promotion of women in the Agora Group to managerial positions is not difficult. The report also shows that the employment structure in terms of gender diversity is very balanced in the Agora Group. Women constitute 53.0% of all employees and 51.0% of senior and middle management in the entire organization.

In the publication, apart from a summary of the activities undertaken in the reporting period, the company also set itself specific goals for 2022.

"ESG Report of Agora Group and Agora S.A. for 2021" is available at www.raportESG.agora.pl/en – in Polish and English language versions.
