The Helios cinema chain is one of the 50 largest European cinema groups according to the "Giants of Exhibition" list. Helios was ranked 15th in the ranking published by the UNIC association and Boxoffice Pro. The cinema companies at the top of the list will be specially honored on June 20 at the CineEurope conference in Barcelona.
The UNIC (International Union of Cinemas) association, the European trade organization representing the interests of cinema operators, and the trade medium Boxoffice Pro have published the 2nd edition of the "Giants of Exhibition" list. It lists the 50 largest European cinema groups by number of screens. The Helios cinema chain was once again ranked 15th - with 296 screens (as of the end of 2022, before the opening of the chain's newest cinema - in Koszalin).
The "Giants of Exhibition" ranking included cinema groups and companies operating in 20 different markets across Europe, ordered by total number of screens at the end of 2022. The most represented markets on the list are the UK and France, Spain and Turkey, and Germany. Once again leading the list is ODEON Cinemas Group, the European subsidiary of UK-based AMC Theatres, with nearly 2,500 screens in the UK, Ireland, Finland, Germany, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. Rounding out the top four are Cineworld (UK), Vue International (UK) and Pathé Cinémas (France). As in the previous year, in solidarity with the Ukrainian people, the makers of the ranking did not include the names and number of screens of Russian companies, which would have made the top 50.
The cinema companies at the top of the list will be specially honored on June 20 in Barcelona - during CineEurope, the largest convention dedicated to cinema operators in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
