Next Film introduces "Papusza" to movie theatres

On November 15th, 2013 a new film production entitled "Papusza" enters Polish cinemas. It was directed by Joanna Kos-Krauze and Krzysztof Krauze. Next Film, a subsidiary company of Helios, is a film distributor.

The film presents the story of Bronisława Wajs, the first Gypsy poet to write down her poetry. The film presents the poet's meeting with Jerzy Ficowski, who noticed her gift and encouraged her to write down her poems. He also translated her poems into Polish.

The Papusza's story is and authorial, historical film production presenting nonexistent any more world of Polish Gypsies. This is also the first Polish movie in Romany language. Movie pictures by Krzysztof Ptak and Wojciech Staroń, music by Jan Kanty Pawluskiewicz. The cast included, inter alia, Jowita Budnik (Papusza), Antoni Pawlicki (Jerzy Ficowski) and Zbigniew Waleryś (Dionizy Wajs).

"Papusza" is one of the most awaited film premiers of this year, exceptional movie with great reviews and awards, inter alia, in Karlowe Wary, Gdynia and Valladolid. We hope that similarly to previous film productions by Joana Kos-Krauze and Krzysztof Krauze it will gain popularity among Polish audience - says Robert Kijak, the president of Next Film.
