Already next Friday – on 18 March this year, viewers in cinemas all over Poland will be able to watch “Za duży na bajki”, a film directed by Kristoffer Rus. It is a warm, funny and empathy-stirring tale about how to deal with difficult, life situations. Karolina Gruszka, Dorota Kolak and Andrzej Grabowski, as well as shooting screen stars: Maciej Karaś, Patryk Siemek and Amelia Fijałkowska unveil to us the world of children's passions, secret dreams and hardships of growing up. The title is distributed by NEXT FILM from the Helios Group.
The protagonist of the film is 10-year-old Waldek, whose life, filled mostly with computer games, turns upside down. In his mother’s absence, he is taken care of by his crazy and unpredictable aunt, who applies, unknown to him, discipline and gives him new chores. And still, although life with the unconventional auntie is more like a survival camp for Waldek, at the same time, the boy learns from her the most valuable life lesson. Friendship put to the test, first love, hardships of growing up, the gaming tournament and, if not enough, adults who always know the best.
The trailer is available on the YouTube platform.
The screenplay was based on a popular book with the same title and written by its author, Agnieszka Dąbrowska.
Shooting screen stars played the roles of young film characters – Waldek, Staszek and Delfina: Maciek Karaś, Patryk Siemek and Amelia Fijałkowska, respectively. However, “Za duży na bajki” is not only about children protagonists – they are supported by actors well-known to viewers: Karolina Gruszka, Dorota Kolak and Andrzej Grabowski. The originality of children and experience of adults helped create this film, which is an ideal proposal for a family visit to a cinema.
The film is co-funded by the Polish Film Institute and co-produced by the Mazovia Warsaw Film Commission. The Pokromski Studio produced the film.
The title is distributed by NEXT FILM, a Helios company (the Agora Group), which produces and distributes films. This year, NEXT FILM introduced to cinemas the continuation of the iconic title “Koniec świata czyli Kogel Mogel 4” [“The End of the World or Kogel Mogel 4”] and the comedy “8 rzeczy, których nie wiecie o facetach” [“8 things that you don't know about men”], and the plans still include “Fucking Bornholm” directed by Anna Kazejak on the basis of Empik Go's audio drama and an own production — “Johnny” — a tale based on a real story that everyone deserves another chance. The leading roles are played by Dawid Ogrodnik and Piotr Trojan.
Last year, the NEXT FILM portfolio included films such as: “W jak Morderstwo” [“In for a Murder”] – a crime comedy starring Anna Smołowik and Paweł Domagała, “Elfinki” [“The Elfkins”] — a humorous animated film for children, “Czarna owca” [“Black Sheep”] — a comedy drama directed by Aleksander Pietrzak, “Teściowie” [“The In-Laws”] — a comedy in all-star cast, “Bo we mnie jest seks” [“Autumn Girl”] about a Polish artist Kalina Jędrusik and “Nosorożec” [“Rhino”] by Oleh Sentsov, a Ukrainian director and activist.
