“Why?” – A new video format for Gazeta.pl

“Why?” – A new video format for Gazeta.pl

Gazeta.pl invites readers to the premiere of a new video format for young audiences. On Saturday, 28 May 2022, there will be a video series on the home page of the portal, entitled “Why?”, which will easily explain to viewers the issues of interest selected on the basis of the most popular queries from online search engines. The script of each episode will be consulted with scientists from the Gdansk University of Technology.

Gazeta.pl focuses on the development of engaging video formats. The latest cycle of “Why?”, addressed to young viewers. It is inspired by the most popular questions that Poles type into online search engines. The series will have its premiere on Saturday, 28 May 2022 at 10 a.m. on the main page of Gazeta.pl and at Next.Gazeta.pl. Subsequent episodes of the cycle will be published on a weekly basis.

At Gazeta.pl, we are continuously developing a video offer to provide content to our audience. More and more of the content is dedicated to Generation Z, which primarily seeks authenticity. The “Why” series is a response to these expectations and we believe it will be very popular”, says Łukasz Kijek, editor-in-chief of news websites at Gazeta.pl and director of video content development.

The creator of the “Why?” series is Sebastian Wasilewski, a journalist and a Reporter who previously worked for, among others, TVN24.”By creating the cycle “Why?”, we analysed popular slogans in search engines and social media. On this basis, we selected the subjects of subsequent sections”, the author of the new format for Gazeta.pl explains. Among the issues to be addressed in the programme will be 5G technology, rising prices, friendships and salaries of professional players. The first section of the series will be devoted to school assessments, and its announcement can be seen here.

The substantive preparation of the programme is the responsibility of scientists from the Gdańsk University of Technology, and the script of each episode is subject to scientific consultation.

Science is not only something for researchers, but telling about it in an accessible way is often a major challenge. The authors of “Why?” show that this can be done in an interesting and effective way: through the language of the film and, at the same time, the language of young people. At the Gdansk University of Technology, we value courageous and rebellious people, with heads full of ideas, and this cycle and its heroes are an excellent example,” says Professor Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of the Gdansk University of Technology, who is a co-producer of the programme.

“Why?” is produced by Based Media.

Gazeta.pl is constantly developing its video offer in which the website users will find information formats (“The Morning Conversation”, “Business Studio”), popular science forms (“Q&A”, “The Green Morning”), as well as entertainment formats (“Gossip List”, “HomeBeauty”) and sports formats (“Sport.pl Live”, “The Interactive Sports Quiz”). In April 2022, another popular science format debuted: “Next Station”, telling about the future, the one that has already arrived but has not yet adopted a specific shape. The host, Kacper Kolibabski, brings together the socially important topics of human rights, technology and the environment. Episodes that are several minutes long are published every Friday at Next.Gazeta.pl.
